The worry most people have when using a Manchester waste collection is that the majority of rubbish removed ends up in the landfill. Perhaps they’ve seen our trucks at a transfer station or tip. This doesn’t mean there is no recycling occurring. The transfer station sorts a wide variety of items for disposal sometimes as much as 85%, and we segregate waste streams in the truck – some earmarked for landfill and some to be recycled or re-used.
North West Rubbish Clearance recycle or re-use 75% of what we collect, and on some collections – such as office clearance or electrical waste collection, that figure can be as high as 100%.
Here is a list of waste that can be recycled no problem:
Green Waste – grass cuttings, leaves, trees, branches, grass, stumps, shrubbery and bushes.
Household Items – food waste, packaging, clothing, light bulbs, magazines, books, furniture, sofas, beds, tables, chairs.
Construction/Demolition debris – concrete, plasterboard, soil, bricks, rubble, stone.
Metal – iron, steel, aluminum, copper, stainless steel.
Glass – bottles, windows.
Plastics – packaging, bottles, empty drums, mixed plastics, HDPE, LDPE, PET
Paper/Paperboard – office paper, newspaper, corrugated cardboard, paper packaging, phonebooks, magazines, mixed paper
Tyres – cars and van.
Electrical waste – CRT monitors, computers, batteries, anything with a plug or batteries.
White Goods – home appliances, fridges, freezers
We always issue a Waste Transfer Note with every collection detailing what has been collected, who we are and where your waste will be taken to. Even if you don’t use us, always ensure that whoever takes your waste away has a Waste Carriers Licence and leaves you with a Waste Transfer Note. You could be liable for what happens to your waste in the event it is fly tipped if you don’t have a Waste Transfer Note.
